Over The Sea To May

A trip to the Isle of May, a joint venture between Midlothian and Falkirk camera clubs, the sea was a bit on the choppy side, I nearly threw up looking through the lens searching for Puffins on the water. Once landed we made our way through the attacking artic terns diving like spitfires on their prey, solid hat recommended. We headed up to the rocks where the puffins were flying in with a tail wind like bullets. Other birds were also readily available Razor bills, Guillemots, Eiders, Shags and a multitude of gulls. It Took a wee while to get my eye in and tracking them on the gimbal, I was using a 400mm 2.8 to blur the background giving better isolation to the birds themselves. The camera Canon r5 handled the tracking of the birds well. Well worth a visit. The return voyage came with its own entertainment, Simon and Tony and camera gear drenched with a rogue wave over the top, fortunately no damage to gear. Then the compulsory fish and chips in Anstruther. The Big hairy Bikers turned up to try out Anstruther’s chippy delights
